Radiofrequency Skin Tightening and Lipodissolve
Radiofrequency Skin Tightening is a revolutionary skin and collagen tightening system that effectively improves skin looseness and stimulates long-term collagen rebuilding. Clinical results confirm improvement in better than 90 percent of the patients treated.
The RF procedure treats sagging and redundant skin throughout the body including the abdomen and thighs, and is also used to tone, lift, and tighten the skin on the face. RF is without peer as a treatment for the loose and “crepe’y'” skin often found on older necks and is very effective for the sagging skin found under upper arms.
After an initial evaluation of the health of the skin and the underlying collagen, a thin layer of gel is gently spread on the area to be treated to facilitate the movement of the treatment head. When the treatment head is applied, the patient feels a short heating cycle as the doctor moves along the treatment area. The brow, lower face, and neck can usually be treated in an hour.
At the conclusion of the treatment, sunscreen is applied. There is no downtime and no specific after care is required.
Results begin to be apparent by the conclusion of the treatment and continue to build over the next 12 weeks. Depending upon the individual patient, best results are sometimes obtained when the procedure is repeated in four weeks. Skin tightening has been shown to last up to two years.

What is LipoDissove?
LipoDissolve started about 50 years ago in France through the work of a physician who was trying to find a cure for deafness (Source: Dermatological Times, December 1, 2004). It gained further notoriety in the U.S. after singer Roberta Flack appeared on ABC’s 20/20 claiming it helped her lose 40 pounds (although she said she also dieted and exercised, what stood out for lots of people was the part that didn’t involve diet and exercise..).
LipoDissolve injections are delivered 6 -13 mm into the mid corporeal fat layer of tissue. The treatment involves a series of injections. The most common medication used in LipoDissolve is phosphatidylcholine (PPC) in combination with deoxycholate (DC).
Many studies have shown that this combination can successfully reduce fat when injected into the adipose layer.
How Does LipoDissolve work?
LipoDissolve consists of multiple injections described above into the undesired fat tissue. The PPC/DC will slowly dissolve and breakdown the fat. The body naturally eliminates the residue after a LipoDissolve session, over the following three to four weeks.
Who is a candidate for LipoDissolve?
A patient within 20-30 pounds of your ideal body weight will have the best results. You can expect to loose inches, not pounds. Dr. Melamed will help you reach your target body weight and eliminate the fat from the hard-to-lose problem areas.
What you can expect from LipoDissolve?
90% of patient have long-term results. Many patients see a difference after their second treatment. However most patients need six to eight treatment of several weeks to achieve their ideal body results. Patients can lose up to three inches of fat from the treatment areas like the thigh and buttocks.
Results vary depending on the type and amount of fat in the particular area. Initial results in the face are seen after just 1 treatment. At follow-up averaging 9 months, more than 50% of patients have reported persistence of benefit.
Is LipoDissolve Safe?
LipoDissolve treatment are not without risk. Side-effects included burning, redness, and swelling at the injection site that can last 1-2 days after the treatment. Larger studies evaluating long-term safety and efficacy of phosphatidylcholine for cosmetic purposes are being conducted.
Patients considering LipoDissolve treatments for cellulite must be aware that the treatments are not FDA approved and have not been thoroughly evaluated for safety or efficacy, but after 50 years of use the treatments are medically benign.
What are treatment costs?
LipoDissolve treatments costs $500-$800 per treatment. Most patients will need five to eight treatment sessions to see results; while some may require less or more. Results and the number of treatments will depend on each individual case. The treatments are provided at 3-6 week intervals as recommend by Dr. Melamed.
Is LipoDissolve the same as Mesotherapy?
No. Mesotherapy is a technique used to deliver medications, natural ingredients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids, and homeopathic substances, to a specific area of the body to treat a specific condition. Mesotherapy is done by micro-injections into the layer just beneath the skin, called the mesoderm at a depth of 1 to 4 mm.
LipoDissolve uses a longer penetration of 6 -13 mm of medications (such as phosphatidylcoline) into the mid corporeal fat layer. Mesotherapy treatment may be used in combination with LipoDissolve therapy in some cases with excellent results.
Phosphatidylcoline (PPC) is the main component of soy lecithin. One significant quality of lecithin is its ability to break down fat. PPC is medically proven to reduce cholesterol, increase metabolism and enhance liver function. PPC has been used by physicians for the past few years as a safe alternative for localized fat.
How is LipoDissolve different than Liposuction?
LipoDissolve is the alternative for the person who wants to undergo Liposuction but is looking for an alternatives to surgery. Liposuction is a surgical procedure – LipoDissolve is a Non-Surgical treatment. LipoDissolve outcomes rely on proper injection and patient selection. Lipodissolve is suitable for non-obese patients with localized fat accumulation which cannot be reduced with appropriate diet and exercise.
Individual results may vary.
